What is a Not-for-profit Tax Return?
A not-for-profit tax return is the IRS Form 990 that most tax-exempt organizations must file each year to report their income, expenses, and activities. Even though not-for-profits generally don’t pay federal income tax, the IRS still requires them to disclose financial information to ensure they continue to qualify for tax-exempt status.
